"KOUKAKI is home to the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST). Once the Fix Brewery, the building that houses the museum has undergone a major transformation. Not yet fully operational, the EMST destined to become a beacon of creative talent that will showcase the work of both Greek and foreign contemporary artists.
The Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, is a must-see, Housing over 4.000 pieces of Lalaounis' work, it pays homage to the ancient art of goldsmithing.
With a very short distance of the city's most treasured accomplishments of antiquity, Koukaki provides the visitor to Athens with a window of modern life, a display of the promise that the present era holds for the city.
Perhaps the most charming area,in the neighborhood is the pedestrian zone running from Koukaki Square along Georgaki  Olympiou Street, wich has a city-meet-jungle feel to it. At eye lever with overhanging trees, including palms, the concrete facades of cafes and restaurants are entirely hidden. Instead, fairy lights and glowing laterns create an atmosphere akin to a Cuban Midsummer Night's Dream, if that's a vision you can imagine. Brightly painted wood-and-wicker chairs adom the pavements where Athenians young and old come to socialize"..

Under the Acropolis at the southern side of Philopappos Hill Koukaki is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Athens. Ita was formerly chosen as a main resident district, which later developed in to an entertainment destination. After all, Koukaki one of the few remaining authentic neighborhoods in the sense of self-sufficiency, the citizens who say good morning to each other and communicate. Based on that philosophy, the business activity has started and developed and the two picturesque walkways have transformed into hangouts. (G.Olympou Str. being the first one. with follow up by Drakou Str.).
The daily life here has more relaxed rhythm.. Bicycles, people hanging out at the tables on the walkway, tourists who discover a "hidden" side downtown! It is consciously  alternative and has finally managed to become a point of attraction.

Koukaki neighborhood. Koukaki is Athens’s newest hot neighborhood. A low-profile neighborhood at the foot of Acropolis, Koukaki has evolved over last years into the hottest fun spot of the city, as new hangouts with an alternative character open one after the other. You can find shops with handmade jewelry and other decorative items & funky clothes. Visit the “State of Concept”, a nonprofit gallery found at No.19 Tousa Botsari Str.Blessed with pedestrian streets, and thanks to Filopappou Hill next door, Koukaki is a neighborhood where wandering is perfectly adequate. After you’ve visited the busiest streets close to Syggrou, go up towards the hill and admire the environment. Do not miss the chance to walk through Tsami Karatassou street, taking in the beauty of the neoclassical mansions. Take a relaxing walk in nearby Filopappou Hill. The pine-covered slopes rising at about 150 meters above sea level, offer a refreshing break from the heat in the summer and is mainly frequented by dog walkers and joggers. The hill is home to the Filopappos Monument, the Socrates Prison, the ancient Koilis Street, two picturesque churches, as well as the old National Observatory and the Dora Stratou Transitional Dancing Theater.
