TIPS FOR ANCIENT ATHENIAN AGORA:.
(Source: Ministry of Culture and Sports).
The Agora was a large square on the northwest slope of the Acropolis where social and religious activities, commerce, out door theatrical performances and athletic contests were held. In other words it was the heart of the ancient city. But above all it was there the center of Athenian democracy, since it was there that the most important administrative and judicial functions and political assemblies took place.
From the 6th c. BC on wards, the open space, wich was traversed by the Panathenaic Way, was gradually surrounded by many public buildings, and it was adorned with temples, altars, stoas fountains, portraits, and statues. It acquired its final form inj the second c.AD.

Kyrristus Clock - Tower of Winds. On the eastern side of the Roman Agora stands an octagonal monument. The clock of Andronicus Kyrristus constructed in the 1er century BC, was a hydraulic clock. On each face of the clock can be seen bas - reliefs of the eight winds. The monument was named "Winds" from the depictions".

TIPS FOR THE PALAESTRA OF THE KYKEION GYMNASIUM.
(Source: Ministry of Culture and Sports, Text E.Banou and Aik.Stamoudi).
"The school of Aristotle, the Lykeion (Lyceum) (335BC), one of the three oldest gymnasia in the city togeather with those of the Academy and Kynosarges, was situated on the outskirts of Ancient Athens,, outside the walls and the Gate of Diochares. As attested by ancient authors, (Plutarch, Strabo, Pusanias), the Lykeion was a very extensive, verdant, area between two rivers, the Eridanos, tothe north and Ilissos to the south, and beside the sanctuary of Lycian Apollo and Heracles Pankrates. Athenian hoplites and ephebes, fulfilling their military duties, exercised in this idyllic area with its abundant waters..
.....
Aristotle was born in 384 BC in Stageira, Chalkidiki, in 368 he moved to Athens, where he chose to study at Plato's Academy.. His own education was in harmony with the ancient Greek ideals of 5th century BC individual freedom, equality before the low, and participation in the political community.
From 342 BC., when he received an invitation from Philip II, he undertook the education of Alexander, for whom he wrote he edited a special edition of the Homeric epics and wrote two works, On Kingship and On Colonists.
He returned to Athens in 335 BC., where he founded his own philosophical school, the Lykeion", known from the era of his successor Theophrastus as the "peripatos"..

        TIPS FOR KERAMIKOS:
(Source GREECE all the time classic).
"The ancient Kerameikos was located in the north-western outskirts of Athens. It was partly
enlosed by,and partly beyond, the walls that devide the area of the excavation. In the centre of the archaeological site are the two best known arches of ancient Athens, the Dipylon where the Panathenaic procession would start and the sacred Arch, where the sacred way would begin and the Elefsinian Mysteries procession would pass through. In the vicinity of the Arches was the most ancient and the biggest cemetery of Attica. Moreover it was the place of burial of the citizens who where honored by the city of Athens. According to the geographer Pausanias, the location was named after Keramos. However, the place was most liked named after the neighborhood of the kerameis (potters).
The neighborhood of the Kerameikos - potters was established on the banks of the river Iridanos. nYou can see the riverbed in the archaeological area. The ancient Demos of Kerameikos covered a large area. Only part of it has been unearthed in excavations. It is thought that the area of the Krameikos was bounded by the north-western perimeter of the Agora on one side and the copse that was named after the hero Akademos, on the other side".

        TIPS FOR GAZI:
(Source Free Copy THE TOTAL GUIDE).
"Gazi the entertainment district spreads out west of Pireos Str. and below Iera Odos Str.! Its name reminds of the gas factory which used to be there from 1862 up to 1864 and today it houses the Technopolis of Athens Municipality, a very important cultural multi-purpose center... Up to the end of 1990's and mostly with the arrival of "Keramikos" metro station (in 2007), Gazi was swarmed with coffee shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, tapas taverns, as well as live stages and art places at the district became a point of reference and a mainstream piazza. Here you can find high-quality places covering all tastes".

"KOUKAKI is home to the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST). Once the Fix Brewery, the building that houses the museum has undergone a major transformation. Not yet fully operational, the EMST destined to become a beacon of creative talent that will showcase the work of both Greek and foreign contemporary artists.
The Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, is a must-see, Housing over 4.000 pieces of Lalaounis' work, it pays homage to the ancient art of goldsmithing.
With a very short distance of the city's most treasured accomplishments of antiquity, Koukaki provides the visitor to Athens with a window of modern life, a display of the promise that the present era holds for the city.
Perhaps the most charming area,in the neighborhood is the pedestrian zone running from Koukaki Square along Georgaki  Olympiou Street, wich has a city-meet-jungle feel to it. At eye lever with overhanging trees, including palms, the concrete facades of cafes and restaurants are entirely hidden. Instead, fairy lights and glowing laterns create an atmosphere akin to a Cuban Midsummer Night's Dream, if that's a vision you can imagine. Brightly painted wood-and-wicker chairs adom the pavements where Athenians young and old come to socialize"..

Under the Acropolis at the southern side of Philopappos Hill Koukaki is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Athens. Ita was formerly chosen as a main resident district, which later developed in to an entertainment destination. After all, Koukaki one of the few remaining authentic neighborhoods in the sense of self-sufficiency, the citizens who say good morning to each other and communicate. Based on that philosophy, the business activity has started and developed and the two picturesque walkways have transformed into hangouts. (G.Olympou Str. being the first one. with follow up by Drakou Str.).
The daily life here has more relaxed rhythm.. Bicycles, people hanging out at the tables on the walkway, tourists who discover a "hidden" side downtown! It is consciously  alternative and has finally managed to become a point of attraction.

Koukaki neighborhood. Koukaki is Athens’s newest hot neighborhood. A low-profile neighborhood at the foot of Acropolis, Koukaki has evolved over last years into the hottest fun spot of the city, as new hangouts with an alternative character open one after the other. You can find shops with handmade jewelry and other decorative items & funky clothes. Visit the “State of Concept”, a nonprofit gallery found at No.19 Tousa Botsari Str.Blessed with pedestrian streets, and thanks to Filopappou Hill next door, Koukaki is a neighborhood where wandering is perfectly adequate. After you’ve visited the busiest streets close to Syggrou, go up towards the hill and admire the environment. Do not miss the chance to walk through Tsami Karatassou street, taking in the beauty of the neoclassical mansions. Take a relaxing walk in nearby Filopappou Hill. The pine-covered slopes rising at about 150 meters above sea level, offer a refreshing break from the heat in the summer and is mainly frequented by dog walkers and joggers. The hill is home to the Filopappos Monument, the Socrates Prison, the ancient Koilis Street, two picturesque churches, as well as the old National Observatory and the Dora Stratou Transitional Dancing Theater.

"It is a forest in the heart of the city, and among the Athenians favorite places, for hiking or relaxing in the local cafes, and restaurants. According to mythology, goddess Athena wanted her temple in Acropolis to be closer to the heaven. One stormy night she went to mount Pentali and took a large rock with the purpose of placing it on the existing rock, two black birds approached her, bringing her bad news regarding something she had to take care immediately in the rage of haste, the rock fell in the centre of Athens.  The rock which is 278 meters high, is located in the centre of Athens. In ancient times the hill was covered bu lush vegetation and on its top stood a temple dedicated to Zeus".. to be continued.
